 | Sólyom Team: HawKia test was successful - but ended with a damaged car.

Last weekend the Hungarian marathonrally.com Partner-Team "Sólyom" tested its HawKia (a special Kia Sportage) for the Hungarian "Raid of the Champions". The test was successful but ended with a roll.
Team-Director Olivér Sólyom was happy with the condition of the HawKia: "My mechanics make the car better and better race by race. This gearbox is still not the perfect one but is is a level higher than the one we had at Internext Rally. I really hope that we will do a good job at the last round of the Hungarian Championship!"
After breaking a driveshaft crew Sólyom/Galbács put an end to the test session but as the test day was public they gave the opportunity to the fans to occupy the co-driver's seat for one round. In one of those co-drive laps, the team and the fans suddenly heard a big crash followed by some smaller ones from behind the trees on the opposite side of the track.
Olivér Sólyom: "Nothing special happened. In a left turn i just felt that the car was lifting up. My first memory is that the ground is approaching my head, then the windscreen became cobwebby. Then only lights and shadows were whirling, then we stopped on the left side of the car.
Later we found out that on that track the soil was more loose plus at the same moment a bump threw the rear left wheel of the car. These two circumstances leaded to that we diagonally spinned over the roof and then rolled two more times. Thanks to the compulsory rally safety equipment, we got out of the wreckage unhurt with my passanger Csaba Rozmis. The damage is considered to be big but we work hard to be able to be at the start in Gyor his weekend."
Csaba Rozmis (the passenger): "I was very happy having the oportunity to have a co-drive with Olivér finally. Last year I was to be one of the co-drivers at Retro Day but finally I couldn't due to some technical problems. I thought now it was the right time! First half of the co-drive was fast and bumpy but pleasant. Before, from the outside everything seemed to be faster and a bit more frightening than inside the car. Then came that certain left turn...
I felt that the left side of the car lifted but I thought Olivér could solve it and we stay on wheels. By the time I had thought that we were rolling already. Olivér asked me I was OK, then explained me how to get out of the car which was on its side. Meanwhile I was thinking about what was the chance of such a roll. There and with me...
We got off without any injury but as i don't take part in astronaut training, the roll made me feel a bit dizzy. We got out and had a look at the car - that was also more frightening from the outside than from the inside. I was sure that the first co-drive with Olivér Sólyom would be a big experience but I didn't imagine that it would be the experience of a lifetime! Despite of what happened, I would be happy to sit back in that seat again, the only question is if Olivér ever lets me close to his car again because I didn't bring too much luck..."
