|SA-Dakar 2011: "MAN with a Mission" will be back with new owner in 2011.|
Good news for fans of the Rally-Trucksport: Dakar-Winner MAN is back. The Dutch "VEKA Group" bought the Team "MAN with a Mission" from the Dutch Importer of MAN and will lance the project for some years. VEKA is producing goods for the maritime sector and is well known in Holland as Sponsor in different kinds of Motorsport.
Three race-trucks and three service-trucks will compete in the South-America Dakar 2011, the drivers were not named yet. "We will tell more about the drivers and team after the official presentation in August in Holland" VEKA told, but they confirmed minimum two professional Dakar drivers. The Dutch Fred van Putten will be the Teamchef, Bert-Jan Richter will be responsible for technics and logistics. The Dutch MAN Importer will cover the team with technical support as in the years before.
After the win of the Dakar Rally 2007 in Africa, the event 2009 was not good for the MAN team. In 2010 the Dutch MAN Importer stopped the project due to financial reasons.
