 | SA-Dakar 2011: Training daywith Cyril Despres for the South Americans

 A preparation day for the 2011 South America Dakar took place in Buenos Aires this past November 13th. A majority of the South American riders and teams were on hand for a presentation conducted by Etienne Lavigne, David Castera as well as the special participation of 2010 SA-Dakar motorcycle champion, Cyril Despres.
100 or so competitors made their way to the Argentinean capital to receive guidance that they well now contemplate then put to use right from the start of the rally. The programme was especially concocted for the Argentinean, Chilean, Mexican and Peruvian Dakar rookies. But a handful of more experienced riders were also present.
Among them were the Pastroneli brothers, Marco and Alejandro, first and second in the Quad category in 2010 as well as Eduardo Alan, Rodolfo Bollero, José Luis Di Palma, Rafael Sanchez, Christian Rubinetti, Patxi Otaño, Pablo and Ariél Jatón, Cristián Lusardi, Eduardo Amor, Alberto Tornatore, Sebastian Halpern, Santiago Hansen, Javier Pizzolito, Walter Dagostini, Diego Demelchori, the Columbian Juan Manaul Linares, etc.
This instruction day allowed the newcomers to familiarise themselves with bivouac life and pick up several useful tips for preparing their conditioning and technique. Lessons on how to read the road book and using safety and navigation equipment were also part of the programme.
Upcoming dates:
- November 16th full day and 17th morning in Buenos Aires: safety seminar presenting the procedures and schedule of the stages for the Argentinean police and civilian guards.
- November 18 in Santiago: the same operation with the Chilean police and National Guard.
- November 23 in Paris: Press conference - 9h30 at the l’Ile à Issy-les-Moulineaux Pavillon.
- November 24th and 25th in Le Havre: Vehicle verifications at Le Havre for the scheduled departure on November 29.
