After preparing the two Nissan pickups (4th and 5th in Dakar 2009) and put in rails a Toyota project, Belgian team "Overdrive Racing" jumps to the conquest to the Argentinean Cross Country Rally Championship with Volkswagen.
In fact, this week, Argentinean driver Orly Terranova (former X-raid BMW) and VW of his country presented the new "Race Amarok T1" to the press, which was fully constructed in Overdrive Racing´s workshops in Huy, Belgium. "We will have the best rally raid team well-structured and my goal is to win the Argentinean championship," claimed the driver.
On his side, Jean-Marc Fortin, manager of Overdrive Racing celebrate this new adventure. "Orly Terranova and the representative of VW Argentina came to visit in our workshop in Villiers Le Bouillet and we made an agreement for the construction of two Race Amaroks in a basis of a tubular South African chassis and a carriage body fabricated in Liege, in Dimma Composite, and all this together with a fuel V6 engine," tells Fortin.
"For this occasion, I will also be Orly´s navigator while the second pickup will be driven by Lucio Alvarez," explains Overdrive´s owner.
The two T1 left Belgium towards Buenos Aires two weeks ago and the first race will be in San Rafael on June 19th. Flexibility and hard working in these times of crisis of rally raid are the qualities that keep the race car builder up high.
"It was an excellent opportunity and I just didn´t let it go. I don´t think to be opportunist, I just reacted!" assures Fortin while he adds: "We will be the first European race car builder to fight for a victory in a championship in South America, the land of the Dakar, the most prestigious race of the discipline."
