"We are very happy to welcome René Kuipers in our team and see his potential to score. It is also very benefitial to have an enthusiastic partner like FERM on board", says Gerard de Rooy, winner of the Dakar Rally 2012.
For FERM the partnership with the successful Dakar team means a further expansion of its activities in motorsport. Last season they were title sponsor of the Ferm World Rally Team with driver Dennis Kuipers during their successful campaign in the World Rally Championship (WRC). Highlight was a fifth position in the World Championship rally of France, unprecedented in the Netherlands.
"The Dakar Rally is the ultimate test for man and machine. A challenging environment for the tools of FERM. The opportunity to work with an absolute top team makes the challenge even bigger. FERM is proud to collaborate with Team de Rooy in the search of new successes", says Ivo Mönnink, Director of FERM.
Team de Rooy has a long and successful history in the Dakar Rally. With Hans Stacey, the team also have a third Dakar winner in the team.
Petronas Team De Rooy Iveco 2013 welcomes a new team member: René Kuipers. The experienced rally driver from Holland will race a truck during the coming Dakar Rally after previous participations by bike and car. René Kuipers joins as a select group of athletes who participated in the toughest rally in the three different categories.
"It al started with a call from Hans Stacey. I was immediately enthusiastic. A rally truck is very different from the World Rally Cars that I'm used to, so it will be great challenge. With the experience of Hans, Gerard and the other team members it should work out just fine. Hopefully the team will also benefit from our experience in the WRC", says René Kuipers.
