 | Dakar 2013: Rumours - Skistar Adam Malysz with Overdrive, Smart-Buggy.

Same procedure as every year: Some weeks before the start of the Dakar Rally, teams, participants and especially journalists are starting their own competitions in the question "Who will drive where" or "Who will be the new team-mates" - and like in every year some stories are true, some are wrong... But that´s also part of the spirit.
Some weeks before Toyota Overdrive announced the first drivers for the 2013 edition - but not all names were on the list. Like the Polish skiing-superstar Adam Malysz. He could be one of the "mystic" Overdrive riders - now he announced first pictures of his testing season in Morocco with one of the famous Toyota Hilux Protos.
The rumours could be true. Malysz started his rallyraid career in the amateur scene (Breslau Rally) with a Porsche Cayenne T2 of the Polish "Caroline Team" - but the car wasn´t stable enough for the Dakar, so shortly before the 2012 edition the team decided to start with a stable T1 Mitsubishi Pajero - and Malysz reached the finish line.
He changed car and team to the Czech "Offroadsport Team" of Miroslav Zapletal and co. and started with the former Offroadsport Mitsubishi L200 Strakar at the "Italian Baja". He was good, very good - but had to retire because he got sick. But the signs were set: Malysz has the talent and he only needs a good car. So maybe in 2013 it will be a Overdrive Toyota...
Another special car will come from Spain - and this is not a rumour. José Luis Álvarez and Roberto Alexander of the "Feber Team" will be the first team on the Dakar - with a Smart. Yes, a Smart - but here we start again with the rumours.
For sure it would be impossible to finish even the first stages with a serial Smart, so the team only took the chassis and implemented it on a buggy. They don´t speak about technical stuff, so journalists are speaking about a "hidden Polaris RZR" SSV. However, helpful or not - the press will like the car, even he will be only participate in some stages...
