|SA-Dakar: French Biker David Casteu - "I must make good choices".|
French motobiker David Casteu will come back to Nice on Wednesday, January 19th. Before he takes his flight to France, the rider draws up a balance of his Dakar and thinks about his future.
The glance of spectators: "I meet full people who asked me: ´Why did you go until the end? Why didn't you throw everything?´ It is true that to breakdown engines many times is not very good for me, the brand and the team" Casteu told.
"Today, I am not a factory rider like others that have only to prepare their luggage and ride on the bike. I am the manager and owner of my stable. Young people, IFA apprentices work for me. I wanted to show them that when there are problems it is necessary to fight and never give up. I wanted to prove that I was there. In spite of the doubt and the pain, it was necessary to go until the end. It is not easy to find the motivation when you start last. When you attend to a 575 km stage, you ask yourself: Why do I ride?"
For him it was a personal combat. "I really thought of all my partners, and my team. I proved myself that I was strong in my head. It is a personal combat; I wanted to finish the rally. Dakar is an extreme race, an adventure. There are so much people who dream to be there. I didn´t have the right to give up."
A large debriefing as soon as he will be in France: Except for the gear box, there was no problem on the bike, and no problem at all on the side of Team Casteu. Sherco trusted a supplier, it is their whole responsibility. The contract stipulated that they were to provide me an engine. There will be a large debriefing when I will be back."
The Team Casteu Adventures continuous: All brands came to see me, including KTM, and I had proposals. Sherco will have to tell me if they want to continue or not. The Team Casteu Aventures has an image and partners, I must go on. Everything went well inside the team. Alex (Giorsetti, the IFA apprentice engaged by Casteu) was exceptional, he surprised me, he really found his way. He was really sorry that Laurent´s bike couldn´t continue. It was a Dakar where we have learned many things. Now, it is to me to take the right decisions."
