 | SA-Dakar: French David Casteu - "I am not someone who gives up".
|

 | | | After a 164 km road connection, David Casteu started 91st for a special stage of 622 km from Chilecito to San Juan. He overtook about 80 bikes and quads in the dust of the tracks next to the Andes Mountains and finished 26th.
"It was a long day," tells David from the bivouac of San Juan. "Temperature felt like fire, more than 40 Degrees Celsius at the start of the second timed section. We went up to 3500 m, and it was necessary to manage the effort! I overtook about 80 bikes and quads. The worst was the quads because they avoid moving to the sides because they are afraid of punctures and I had to stay in the dust for a long time. I run without taking risks."
"I´m using the first engine, the one I did all the tests with. It is with this engine that I ranked 3rd on Tuesday. The Sherco technicians took it out to put another, but it broke during yesterday´s road connection. So, we put back the first one, thinking that we must assure to take the bike to Buenos Aires. It has to finish the race because I don´t have another one (reliable)."
David showed once again his outstanding character and immense will to continue, even with the repeated breakdowns he had to face.
"I almost quit ten times. What makes me hold on is all those who battle to do the Dakar, my sponsors, my family. I am not someone that quits. We try to put all our means to do something well, but this result erased the World Title. Without my partners, I would not be at the start of the Dakar."
