 | SA-Dakar Rally: Dutch Mitsubishi - Ten Brinke looses time, Wevers moves up.
|
Today, there was a longer test on the agenda: A connection route of 487 km and a trial of 290 km of the cars and 295 for the trucks. A mixed day for the Dutch Wevers Mitsubishi Crews. Bernhard Ten Brinke had bad luck today, he drove a flat tire and when they used the airjack, they got him down no longer. It has lasted almost an hour to get this working again. Obviously very bad news, especially because he ended on a 8th position yesterday.
On the other hand, Erik Wevers did a excellent job, he had no burden of setbacks, found the route good, also in terms of surface. There was everything in it: dunes, gravel and pieces where they could speed up. Finally he finished 13th, 19:29 mins behind the leader Nasser Al Attiyah. In the overall standings, Wevers is second best Mitsubishi on 12th position with 22:13 mins to overall leader Stéphane Peterhansel.
Gert Huzink also had a bit of bad luck today: He and his navigator Eugenié Decre got stuck on a dune just before the finish. They lost 15 minutes, finished as 21st today and 24th overall (+54:25)
