X-raid Mini driver Stéphane Peterhansel and his codriver Jean-Paul Cottret were the first car across the finishing line of the final special. The 2012 Dakar champion posted the third best time, 25:55 minutes, behind his teammate Nani Roma/Michel Perin with 24:54 mins and the best time, set by Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz with 24:11.
Later the US-American Robby Gordon clocked the best time, beating the Mini's of Ricardo Leal dos Santos (PT) and Krzysztof Holowczyc (PL). All leaders took things carefully in this special and were happy just to reach the finish and the podium in downtown Lima.
This means, the winners of the car category 2012 are clear: Double-win for the X-raid Minis of Peterhansel/Cottret and Roma/Perin in front of a sensational 3rd place for the all-new Toyota Imperial Team from South Africa with the former Dakar winners Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz.
