US-driver Robby Gordon fights back: After his misfortune yesterday and problems with ASO-comissairs, the Hummer proto driver used the short stage today and won together with his navigator Johnny Campbell.
He needed 02:14:32 hours and made the stage 15:18 minutes in front of the Russian-German pairing Leonid Novitskiy and Andy Schulz in the best X-raid Mini All4 and 22:06 mins in front of De Villiers/Von Zitzewitz in the best Imperial Toyota Hilux.
4th became the Mitsubishi Racing Lancer of the Dutch Bernhard Ten Brinke and his French codriver Matthieu Baumel (+23:15) in front of Nani Roma / Michel Perin (Mini, +23:38). Stephane Peterhansel finished provisionally 6th, he lost 26:27 minutes to Gordon by stucking in the soft dunes.
In the overall rankings, Peterhansel/Cottret (Mini) still leads with 35:19:04 hours, 20:00 mins to Roma/Perin (Mini) and 01:06:40 hours to Giniel de Villiers and Dirk von Zitzewitz in the Toyota. Robby Gordon is still 4th, 01:44:04 behind Peterhansel and 16 minutes in front of Leonid Novitskiy (Mini).
