 | SA-Dakar Rally: Wevers Racing Lancer crew still best Mitsubishi team 10th.
|
"So, what a day today. It began quietly, the route turned out to be the same reasonable in terms of surface. Our drivers got some self-confidence and so they started with a nice feeling" the Dutch Wevers Rallyraid team reported after the 4th stage on Wednesday.
Bernhard ten Brinke drove a super quick time: 5th during the latest WP, until he slided on his side in a helical curve. "That’s something you can’t really use if you are on such a beautiful position" the team said.
Gert Huzink and Eugenié Decré put Ten Brinke and his navigator Matthieu Baumel again in the upright position so that they could secure their way. Finally, Ten Brinke/Baumel finished 22nd in the daily results and are now 20th overall. Huzink/Decré finished as 15th and are on 17th position overall.
But then: Erik Wevers himself - steady as he goes. What a solid power within the team: No damages, drives a tight Dakar so far and we see him therefore steady on the 7th spot in the daily ranking (+13:17 to winner Peterhansel) and 10th in the overall ranking (+36:42 to Peterhansel).
With this, the dutch Teamchef and driver in same person is still the best Mitsubishi-crew. Second are Van Loon / Scholtalbers (10, NL, 10:25:07), third the Brazilian crew of Guilherme Spinelli and Youssef Haddad (13, 10:44:27), both with their single Mitsubishi Racing Lancer of "Van Loon Racing" and "Mitsubishi Brsail".
