|Sardegna Rally Race: The World Championship gets ready for the third leg.|
The "Sardegna Rally Race", from May 27th to June 1st, will have a main course of 1600 km divided in five magnificent stages. Giofil Aprilia Team will be there with the whole team. The echoes of the glorious victory of Chaleco in Tunisia haven´t been extinguished yet, but now is time to start again. From May 27th to June 1st, the third leg of the Cross Country Rally World Championship disembarks in Sardinia for the only European stage of the most prestigious contest.
There will be five stages and a thousand six hundred and fifty kilometers that will cross the Island completely, from east to west, north to south and still to north; with nine hundred kilometers of timed section, the "Sardegna Rally Race" will be a true, long and difficult challenge, just thinking about the hardness of the first fraction, coast to coast from San Teodoro to Arboreal with 406 kilometers, a huge stage in the Sardinian territory.
The race will not lack of difficulties like those in African rallies, like the 202 km in the fourth stage. And also, the marathon stage (no assistance service allowed) in the second day will finish in the inside of the "Poligono Molitare di Capo Teulada", a military camp, where Bike Village will prepare a special bivouac in the African Style. For bikes, there will be a parc fermé, where not any kind of assistance will be possible, so the most important will be to preserve the bike and tires in order to continue a good race.
The whole Team Giofil Aprilia Racing will attend to this challenge with its three riders: the Spanish rider Gerard Farres and San Marino´s rider Alex Zanotti will join Francisco "Chaleco" Lopez for the meeting. All three will not use the Aprilia Tuareg 4.5 "African", due to the grounds in Sardinia, but they will do the race in the saddleback of the Aprilia RXV Enduro, specially prepared with bigger capacity fuel tanks.
The team directed by Filippo Assirelli will also have another rider in its rows: The Chilean rider Rodrigo Caballero, the youngest competitor on the last Dakar in South America. The rider will be provided of a bike and assistance service by Aprilia Giofil.
