Sardinia Rally: Marc Coma still among the top positions in Sardinia.

After the rainy spring, the herb has played one of the leading roles in the third leg of the Sardinia Rally. The rain fallen in the past few months has made the herb on the mountains grow extremely high, clearly affecting the development of the rally, hindering the riders’ visibility and ability to ride. Given this situation, the first participants to take the start this morning were the most affected since the riders starting from behind found the route already marked.

Marc Coma, who started second after yesterday’s result was one of the disadvantaged and finished today’s leg in fourth position, almost five minutes behind the winner Matteo Graziani. In fact both riders arrived in a group joined by David Casteu, José Manuel Pellicer and Francisco López, yesterday’s winner. The problems created by the route marked by the organization clearly favoured the riders starting from the back and made it impossible to open a gap in order to get to the finish all alone.

Participants will be reaching the halfway-mark tomorrow, with a leg covering 225 kilometres in which the riders will have to face two specials, of 36 Km and 42 Km with a liaison of 40 kilometres between them.

Marc Coma: "Everything is working quite well, despite this being a complicated rally with stages we are not really used to. Navigation is very complicated since the racing system in Italy is a little different from what we are used to and it’s not easy. It causes some trouble because they take us along very small tracks, actually paths or even through areas in which there isn’t even a track marked and it is really complicated to find the right way. I started second but after a few kilometres we made a group with the top five riders. The gap of the starting time took me to finish fourth. But everything is working well so far and we’re adapting to this type of race."

Leg 2: Gavoi - Oristano: 308 Km. Liaison 147 Km. - Special 106 Km. - Liaison 55 Km.
