 | SCORE Baja 1000: FOX athletes aim for the victory at 45th SCORE Baja 1000.

Fox, the industry-leading ride dynamics company, and its sponsored athletes Jesse Jones and Bryce Menzies are teaming up once again in Mexico. They’re stepping up their collaboration for the Baja 1000 by sharing driving duties of Jones’ Fox off-road racing trophy truck - a move that without a doubt strikes fear in the trophy-truck field.
The two worked together earlier at the 2012 Baja 500 sharing pits and logistics. The move paid off, putting Jones on the podium in third place and netting Menzies the overall win and his second consecutive Baja 500 win. From the start of the race to the finish, the Fox Raptor, along with its competitors, will be running as fast as possible.
The Jones/Menzies crew has to manage its logistics carefully. Assets need to be in place when the truck pulls in to pit. Mechanical difficulties, course conditions and the weather all play a part; racing in Baja is always a challenge
The most carefully detailed plans can change instantly. Crew members need to think on their feet and adapt as situations demand. Some crews are in place in remote sections with limited access. Others run the length of the peninsula, sometimes leapfrogging each other to stay in contact with the race truck. If one fails to keep up, it gets left behind, no longer able to assist.
"Pre-running is well underway with Jesse and Bryce planning out which sections they will drive," said Joe Weining, Jones Motorsports crew chief. "The 1000 is a huge undertaking with a lot of moving pieces that have to be orchestrated perfectly. We’ll have close to a dozen chase trucks loaded with full crews to keep the truck in contention for the win."
"Combining two of the best teams in racing has been great," Menzies said. "We have the best drivers and the best team. We look forward to the same winning results at the 1000."
"We’re excited to have both Jesse and Bryce behind the wheel of the Fox off-road racing trophy truck," John Marking, vice president of off-road at Fox, said. "These guys have what it takes to win and give us our third consecutive Baja 1000 win and our 11th SCORE Baja Trophy Truck win a row."
Jones’ honors include Class 8 SCORE Championship in 2001; Vegas to Reno Best In The Desert (BITD) First Place Trick Truck and Trick Truck BITD Championship in 2005; and Trophy Truck SCORE Championship, SCORE San Felipe First Place Trophy Truck, SCORE Primm First Place Trophy Truck, and SCORE Trophy Truck Champion in 2010.
Menzies’ honors include Championship Off Road Racing (CORR) Single Buggy Champion and Rookie of the Year in 2007; BITD Class 10 Champion and Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) Pro 2 Challenge Cup Winner in 2009; LOORRS Pro 2 Challenge Cup Winner in 2010; SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge Winner, SCORE Baja 500 Winner, SCORE Trophy Truck Champion, Traxxas Off Road Championship (TORC) Pro-2 Champion, and Dirt Sports Driver Of The Year in 2011; and SCORE Baja 500 Winner and TORC Pro-2 Champion in 2012.
