|Serres Rally: Frans Verhoeven and 80+ participants to start in Greece.|
5 Days, 10 special stages, 20+ hours of special stages, only 186 kilometers on asphalt roads and 1020 kilometers of Racing: This is the "Serres Rally" in Greece, which will be held from 26th to 31st of August 2013. Actually 70 bikes/quads/SSV and 14 cars/buggies signed in and also some interesting names: Next to the "Who-is-who" of the amateur-scene, also Dakar-lady Patsy Quick, FIM racer Jordi Viladoms and now Dutch Frans Verhoven will start in Greece.
Yamaha rider Verhoeven has just confirmed he will be at the start of the race on Monday, August 26th. While his factory Yamaha teammates, Cyril Despres and Michael Metge, were active in the Rally dos Sertões in Brazil the last days, Verhoeven decided to choose Greece and Serres Rally, (as well as the Merzouga Rally in Moroccolater in October) as preparation for the Dakar 2014 instead.
After the cancelation of "Transcarpathic Rally", the 5 days of hard competition of Serres Rally 2013 will determinate the European Cup Tout Terrain winners. "We already have the 12 medals from the 4 basic categories (A <250, B <450, C >450, D Quad), three of each class, Gold, Silver and bronze" said the organization. The FIM representative, will be at Serres for the ceremony.
As reported, the Serres 2013 is also part of the "Rally Pro Series", organized by the Italian Edo Mossi. In order to score the points valid for the Championship Rally Pro Series and compete to win the final prize of 15,000 euros, riders are required to confirm their entry in the RPS at the Rally Pro Series Hospitaliyt at the Elpida Hotel, the Head quarter of the Serres Rally. Like in the recent years, there are elite Special Operations Forces from Municipalities Sintiki and Thessaloniki. These groups consist of volunteers offering health coverage and Rescue where necessary. Specifically, covers cultural, sport, religious events. They have taken part in finding missing people successfully and in cooperation with other forces help services in firefighting and forest protection of our national parks. Their responsibilities are all within the competence of civil protection. This special Team, will help the rally with specialized personnel and paramedics in the Medical and Safety Plan.
There will be also three 4X4 ambulances that will follow the route every day, to coverage the medical needs of our race plus four normal ambulances at the asphalt roads in critical points.
