 | Sertões International: French David Casteu is one of the stars in Brasil.

With a little bit more than three months for the start of "Sertões International Rally" in Brasil, some drivers - whose curricula are a highlight in the off-road scenario - have already confirmed their presence in the event. 60 per cent of the bikes and quads spots have already been taken, and some 30 cars and five trucks have applied.
The 18th edition of the competition takes place between August 10th and 21st, and is crossing seven Brazilian states - Goiás, Minas Gerais, Bahia, Tocantins, Maranhão, Piauí, and Ceará - starting in Goiânia (GO) and finishing in Fortaleza (CE).
According to the rules, and aiming for safety, the bikes/quads category is the only one limited to one hundred competitors. The French rider David Casteu, 36, is one of the confirmed competitors in Sertões 2010. This will be the fourth time Casteu competes in the largest Brazilian off-road adventure. Casteu was first runner-up in 2006 and 2007, and placed third in 2008.
He also got good results in the last editions of the Dakar Rally. In 2010, the Frenchman, who rides professionally for the French company Sherco, won the Desert Challenge in Abu Dhabi, in the 450cc category, and seeks the world title for the category.
Besides Casteu, some confirmed presences in bikes and quads are the Brazilians Sacilotti brothers, Moara and Ramon, Tiago Fantozzi, Dimas Mattos, Deni do Nascimento, Fabrício Bianchini, and the foreigners Antonio Narino, Dave Peckham and Phillip Bowman, among others.
Drivers Jean Azevedo, Reinaldo Varela and Luiz Facco already confirmed their presence in cars, after having previously competed in bikes. The Ceará based Riamburgo Ximenes and Bahia based Regis Braga Maia are some of the drivers who will have the pleasure to cross their home states during the race.
Among trucks, the highlights are the four-times champion Edu Piano (in 2005 with cars, and 2007, 2008 and 2009 in trucks), and the five-times champion André Azevedo (in 1997 and 98 in cars, and 2000, 2002 and 2004 in trucks), who already participated ten times in the competition.
