 | Sertões Rally: Organizer announces start in São Luís and arrival in Goiânia.

The capital of Maranhão, São Luís (Brasil) receives for the second consecutive year the start of the [ RALLY DOS SERTOES ] on July 25th 2013. Goiânia, which has hosted the start for ten consecutive editions, will be the stage of closing (August 4th).
After several speculations about the cities that could receive the start and the finish of Dos Sertões 2013, Dunas Race officially announced these two locations.
Five categories will be competing in the 21st edition of the rally: cars, bikes, trucks, quads and UTVs, highlighting that the competition backs to compose the FIM Cross Country for bikes and quads, being the only round with weight 2 in the season.
This will be the third appearance of São Luís in Rally dos Sertões. The first time happened in 2003, when it received the arrival of the competition. In the last edition, in 2012, the city took advantage of the celebrations of its 400 years and hosted the 20-years edition of Rally.
The town also receives the prologue and Super Prime, events that define the starting order of the first day of the rally. The Super Prime will be broadcasted live throughout Brazil by the SporTV channel.
Goiânia is already an old known of competitors. It is the second city that has received more times competition, with 11 editions, losing only to Palmas, where the convoy has passed in 12 opportunities. The first time was in 1998, when it was one of the dormitory cities.
Then, from 2002 to 2011, Goiânia always started the rally - pointing out that in 2005 hosted the start and the finish, becoming the only city to start and close the competition in these 20-years of history.
To Dunas Race, organizer of the rally, searching for new frontiers is the goal to make the competition more attractive. "For ten years we left from Goiânia, now we’re going to do the reverse starting from São Luís again" said Lucas Moraes, Marketing and New Business Manager of Dunas Race.
"The State of Goiás was very important for the development of the competition, as well as Fortaleza (CE), which hosted the arrival for three consecutive years and helped us to create new opportunities for Rally. It is among our goals to create new challenges and new tracks to be cleared by drivers and co-drivers."
