 | Sertoes 2010: Zanol wins stage on bikes, Collet new leader in quads.

The fourth day of competition at the Sertões International Rally connected the cities of Alto Paraiso (GO) and Dianópolis (TO). Totaling 514 kilometers, 240 of them in timed sections, the special on Saturday (August, 14) had the victory of Felipe Zanol on the bikes and Rafal Sonik on quads.
This was Zanol’s second consecutive victory in the Sertões, however the overall lead remains with Spaniard Marc Coma, who finished today's stage in second place just 19 seconds behind Zanol.
The victory surprised even Zanol himself. "I never expected to win the special again today. In the 20th km of the timed section I was slow, but I missed a turn and ended up slamming into a fence. The road book command broke, and I had to roll it by hand. It was so good to win fourth stage, even losing a little time due to the mistake," said the rider.
This was the second consecutive day that finishes with Coma as first runner-up, but he retains the overall lead. "The special today had difficult navigation and riding. The floor did not have much grip and the bike was sliding a lot. Since I have a large bike, it was even more difficult to control. But it was a very good day and again a very nice race," said Coma.
On quads, Carlo Collet, from São Paulo, could take the lead in the competition, placing second on the fourth stage. The victory was again with the Polish Rafal Sonik. "It was a very fast special, very aggressive. I love days like this and I wish all of them would be like this. So far, the race is perfect and I am still quite fond of the Rally," said the Pole, who suffered a 26-minute penalty. With this, Collet leads 16 seconds ahead.
The displacement of today's stage was one of the biggest so far, with 272 kilometers, which wore even more competitors. "Today, in addition to a rather special difficult, with lots of navigation and speed, the final liaison was very tiring. I finished the fourth round feeling well, and I'm ready for the next few Sertões days, which should provide even greater difficulties," said Francinei Costa.
Medical tent: On Saturday (14), three injured riders abandoned the 18th Sertões International Rally. Successfully rescued, they were all bike contestants: Frenchman Ludovic Boinnard, with the right collarbone fractured and dorsal contusion; Chilean Daniel Gouet, who tore a ligament in his right ankle, and Brazilian Fabio Vinicius Morés with a dislocated left shoulder.
