|Silk Way Rally: Tatra´s Ales Loprais "Today we had the first clear stage".|
Finally the good news and a big happiness after the last demanding days in the Czech "Instaforex Loprais Team". The fourth stage on Wednesday brought the second place for the crew 301, conjured the silver good mood in the team and has brought satisfaction for the work of all those during days and nights work intensively on tuning of the new Tatra racetruck.
Overall are Ales Loprais and his crew are on the tenth place. The crew 306 composed of Jan Tománek, Tomás Kaspárek and Michael Honda finished the stage on the 13th place, overall they are on the 12th place. Although originally the trio would not be presented or publicized, but after the numerous questions of the fans they finally agreed to the disclosure their position in our news.
Ales Loprais happily reports: "Today we had the first clear stage. The track was very broken. We drove through the barren landscape. In addition to the salt lake and herds of wild cattle, it was just a road full of holes and bumps across the desert. The terrain is extremely demanding especially on the spine and head, the shakes are unbearable. For tomorrow we’ll try a different chassis settings."
He continued: "Step by step we change the properties of the new car and tune it to the profile of the local tracks. Today we occupied a nice silver position, although we started as the 39th so we had to overtake dozens of cars and trucks in front of us and we have to stop for a minute to check the cab. Our fighter ride finally came out."
The fifth stage on Thursday runs from Elista to Astrakhan. The speed trial 5 "A thousand and one dunes" is made up from 5% of dunes, from 25% of sand, from 20% of sinuous tracks and from 50% of very fast tracks in the steppe. The rally heads south, traversing tracks in the steppe. On some sections, the tracks could be in poor shape and the teams will have to be careful not to get caught in the holes and ravines hidden in the grass.
Then, the first difficulties will present themselves, especially when crossing the pastures. The competitors will then have to cross a massive sand zone. Navigating in the heart of the desert, they will only see the horizon when reaching the top of the dunes. But 50 km from the finish line, the pace will pick up. Those who check in at the finish of this stage will certainly be considered as heroes.
