Silver Fern 2006: Early Bird entry registrations and infos.

Thank you to those who have already lodged their Early-Bird Entry Reservations, the list will be updated regularly and is available on the official Website [ ] on the "Entry List" page. As the Entrants send in their profile sheets these will also be updated on the website, so you can check out more of the background details, for the ones who have entered. Early Bird Entry Registrations at the cheap fees close on Tuesday 31st of January so if you still intend to do it - get to it right now. Remember the benefits are cheaper fees, payable in instalments, better seeding for the prologue stages, 2 free "T" shirts, and 2 free Service Crew registrations.

As at the 12th of January there were twenty one entries, including the likes of Mark Parson's V8 Triumph TR7, Dave Strong, and Aussie Jim Wallace in a gravel spec BMW M3. The list is being updated weekly, and we are hoping for an influx, as the end of the month approaches. The list attached & on the website is in alphabetical order for information only.

The organisers wish to welcome on board, Budget Rentals, who are our preferred Rental Vehicle Company, and can be contacted thru Murray O'Donnell at Budget's Manukau Office or by e-mail to [ ] or check out the vehicle hire details on the Website. Thanks also to Emilio's Timbers of Tauranga, who have provided some for the printing costs of the new flyers, which were used recently for our overseas promotions.

Rally Chairman Gary Smith has returned from the UK, Europe and Spain, where he actively promoted the event, with a very positive response. There are several very interested British teams, and even more who had not heard of the event, so watch this space.

Richard Bethune from Dunedin and his local Norwegian co-driver carried the NZ Silver Fern Rally promotion logo's on their car in the Gol Mountain Rally in Norway over the last weekend (January 14th). His Ford Escort RS 1800 was seeded 74th in a field of 110 and was in the classic up to 2000cc class. Unfortunately Richard was unable to complete the third special stage due an engine failure, he was running 86th in the field after 2 stages, and getting to grips with the snow and ice. Richard has now completed his trip to the northern winter, which included a week at John Haugland's famous Rally School. Richard's Escort will now be shipped back to New Zealand where it will be available for lease for the NZ Silver Fern Rally in October.

The organizers are adopting the new Motorsport New Zealand NZ Classic's Technical Regulations - Schedule OS, for use as the base for our Classics classes. They are told these have been ratified by Motorsport, they are not yet showing up on their website or in the Championship Regulations. If you need a copy e-mail us and the organizers will provide the latest we have. Also they are currently producing a Rally Guide with all the (hopefully) relevant information needed by an international team contemplating a visit to New Zealand. Details will include Shipping and Freighting, Customs, Duty / Carnet, Radio Licensing, Vehicle Registration, as well as general information on New Zealand conditions and tourism opportunities.

Rocky Hudson is looking for a co-driving seat for the event, and Kevin Doar is looking for a Service Crew position, check out their details in the classifieds on the website. If anyone has a want, need or offer, let me know and I can list it for you.
