|TORC 2013: Eller Racing adds second Pro-Light for 2013 TORC Season|
The offseason is always a busy time for most competitors in the "Traxxas TORC Series" presented by Amsoil, but that would be an understatement for the Randy Eller's Southern Illinois (USA) based team.
The 2013 TORC season will see two PRO-Light race trucks from the Eller Racing Development team hit the track beginning with the season opener in Kansas. Just like a round of racing in the TORC series, the winter has been an all out sprint to get both trucks ready for the sixteen round season.
The second truck will be driven by Randy Eller's twenty-four year old son, Colby. Eight years ago in Bark River, Colby got his first chance to compete behind the wheel of Don Ponder's backup PRO-Light. That day there were twenty-six trucks taking the green flag. The younger Eller finished thirteenth, ahead of both Ponder, and the senior Eller.
Since then, Colby Eller has helped his dad at the shop and at the track whenever possible. The opportunity for a second truck at Eller Racing Development happened thanks to the added support of the team's title sponsor PSC Steering. Colby is ready to become a regular on the TORC Series tour.
"PSC Motorsports has been a partner with our team for awhile, and last year we began talking about a second truck and Tom Allen of PSC Steering made it happen," noted Randy Eller. "The crazy weather we've had the last few weeks has really prevented us from testing either truck, but we will be ready for Kansas."
With all the controversy the last couple of years about PRO-Light engines, the team stepped up and purchased a Dodge powerplant from Stanton Racing Engines for Randy Eller's #11 PSC Steering/Ignite Racing Fuel/Lilly Signs/Maxxis Tire PRO-Light. Colby Eller's PRO-Light Ranger will be equipped with the Ford powerplant from McGunegill Engine Performance.
Both trucks will be using Quick Fuel Carburetors while burning high performance ethanol fuel from Ignite Racing Fuel. Longtime partner Maxxis Tires will supply their Bighorn Mud Terrain tires for both trucks all season as well. Thanks also go to Lilly Signs who supply the vinyl graphics for the team and continued transmission support from Auto Trans Design.
