Transorientale: Eric Vigouroux to start with his Chevrolet Protruck.

The "Saint Petersburg-Astana-Beijing" Transorientale will be flagged-off in approximately one week: A fabulous adventure that Pro-System Racing could not miss at any cost. Moreover, Eric Vigouroux was the first contestant to commit to it and it is with great ambitions that he starts this race, in spite of a very limited budget.

"I have always liked the competitions organised by René Metge and I immediately joined his new project. With the help of Gilles Martineau and Lagardere Sport, Rene proposes a epic event, a real marathonrally-raid whose route makes us dream," explains Eric. "After our second place in the Tunisia rally, we will face this competition with a high moral. The route is favourable for Chevrolet Trophy Truck. René has promised us some very hummocky specials, nice tracks in the steppes of Kazakhstan and lastly, enormous dunes in China. But sand is no longer an obstacle for Trophy Truck that is now equipped with a perfectly effective system for inflating-deflating the tyres."

On 12 June in Saint Petersburg, the Chevrolet Trophy Truck, with the No. 200, will start first in the motor car category. Its main competitors include: Spanish Monterde with his Schlesser-Buggy, the Fast & Speed Buggy of the German Kahle as well as a last-minute surprise participant, rallyman Francois Delecour who is making his beginning in a rally-raid on a buggy SMG. "In the absence of factory-teams, it is a level playing field. We will be committed to merit our status of favourites knowing that the route will be very long till Beijing and that there will certainly be many new turns," analyses Eric.

With a long path of 10.726 km including 3.713 km of specials, and seventeen days of race, the Transorientale will be very demanding for both men and machines. This implies an essential role for the assistance, which will be ensured by a small experienced team that includes Julien Goureau as chief mechanic as well as Gilles Leguay, who has already driven Renault Kerax 6X6 during the last two rallies in Dakar. "We will go there with a very small team and we must take it into account while we manage the race in order to have an opportunity to attain our final objective."

On the track, Trophy Truck can also count on some parts brought in the T4 race truck hired by the Ronn Bailey Motorsports Team, an American partner team of Pro-System Racing.

As far as promotion through media is concerned, 2008 Transorientale will benefit from a major spin-off in France thanks to the agreement that it has signed with France Television, which will disseminate images of the race in its different sports transmissions such as "Tout le Sport", Or "Stade 2".
