Transorientale: Two more days of hassle for Eric Vigouroux.

Obviously, this 2008 Transoriental has not been a success for the Pro-System Racing team. The Trophy Truck had again technical problems during the third and fourth stages. But, in spite of their fatigue, Eric Vigouroux and Alexandre Winocq have not given up yet. Even if any good place in the general category is now outside their reach.

"We have had two days of trouble in a row," explained Eric at the bivouac of Makrovo after the fourth stage. "The special of third stage was cancelled, and there was a long link of 650 km. At 80 kms from the finish, the transmission broke down. We waited for our assistance truck that pulled us a few kilometres up to a service station where we worked on a long part of the mechanics. Unfortunately, our chief mechanic is not with us. The imminent birth of his son has retained him in France. It took us more time than planned. And finally, we reached the bivouac at five in the morning and received several hours of road penalties. We are not upset because the victory had already been quite compromised."

After reaching the bivouac of Yelabouga, Eric and Alexandre started off again for the second stage; of course, without sleeping!

"But this is not the most important thing," continues Eric, "because one does not get tired in special. After a very eventful start of the competition, with an interruption caused by bogs where the bikers were "stuck", the race started from CP2. Unfortunately, 5 km after departure, all of a sudden, the oil-pressure dropped. An oil connection had broken. Alex repaired it quickly. We took oil drums from a race-truck and we started again after loosing half an hour. But what a misfortune!"

In conclusion, Eric hopes that the Russian "misfortune" will come to an end soon and that Kazakhstan - where they will reach on Monday evening - will bring them more luck. Our heroes are tired, but still optimistic...
