 | USA 2011: Desert Dingo Racing with Motul as technical partner for new season.
|
The US-based "Desert Dingo Racing", driving Rallyraid with old Volkswagen Beetle, announced that Motul, a global company specializing in high-tech synthetic lubricants formulated for powersports and automotive applications, is offering technical support for the team's 2011 race season.
"We're taking an air-cooled engine never designed to do what we put it through - high revs, high compression, high temperatures - and run it for hours on end at extreme altitudes in the high deserts of Nevada and Mexico," said Desert Dingo Racing co-founder Jim Graham. "We've worked with Motul to identify a synthetic lubricant solution that allows us to operate at maximum efficiency, and they've done it."
Desert Dingo Racing has teamed with the International Diabetes Federation and is the official World Diabetes Day off road race car. Two team members have Type 2 diabetes and several others have a history of the disease in their families. They make the car available for public events and distribute thousands of hero cards annually with the warning signs of diabetes printed on the back.
"We support racers around the world and Stock Bugs push their engines to the limit every time they take to the course," said Dave Wolman, President of Motul USA Inc. "We’re proud to support Desert Dingo Racing and look forward to feedback on how our lubricants perform for them."
Desert Dingo Racing completed the 2010 season ranked second in class in the Valley Off Road Racing Association series and competed in the Baja 1000 in 2007, 2008 and 2009. For 2011 the team is first place in class points headed into VORRA’s USA 500 July 14-17 in Sparks, Nevada.
Desert Dingo Racing is a team of high tech professionals based in Santa Cruz and Silicon Valley who campaign a 1969 VW Beetle in off road races in the U.S. and Mexico. They are the official World Diabetes Day race car and the team raises money for diabetes education and awareness programs sponsored by the International Diabetes Federation.
