|Verva Street Days: X-raid Team thrills spectators in Poland´s Capital Warsaw.|
Warsaw, the Polish capital, echoed to the sound of race engines on Saturday (June 18th). The "Verva Street Racing" attracted thousands of fans and they were offered a fantastic show.
The 1200 meters long track included seven turns and the crowd was only inches away from Stéphane Peterhansel (France) and Krzysztof Holowczyc (Poland) at the wheel of two BMW X3CCs.
In the afternoon, the two X-raid drivers competed in a show race against each other and local hero Holowczyc secured a close victory in front of his home crowd.
This was the second edition of Verva Street Racing. In addition to the two off-road rally cars, various touring cars, formula racing cars, NASCAR machines and motorcycles were present. The crowds also had access to the paddock where they were able to see the vehicles up close and mix with the racing drivers.
"That was a cool and amazing event," said Peterhansel. "The middle of the capital of Poland was all closed for the show. Many spectators were on the line and the atmosphere was superb, especially as a lot of fans came to the pit area. Sure it was more a presentation than a race, but it was really fun."
