 | White Hills Baja Russia: Season to start in February with new FIA candidate.
|
The 2012 rally-raid season will be starting from 23rd to 26th February 2012, but far from the Dakar sands it is the snow and ice of the FIA World Cup candidate event, the "White Hills Russian Baja", where some of the world’s best off-road drivers will come together to celebrate their need for speed.
A 120km long stage (to be run three times) ploughed into the vast and frozen landscape by an army tank, following the natural contours of the land is what awaits drivers on the 3 day event, with a special ‘test day’ for foreign crews to get themselves used to the unique conditions on the world’s only international ‘winter’ Baja.
It’s run by the same organising team as the Northern Forest and will take crews on an incredible route over the frozen hills of Belgorod, scene of another type of man and machine battle - in "World War II" these same hills were once witness to the largest tank battle in history.
But Russia isn’t quite like the rest of Europe regarding things like paperwork though - so if there are any more crews thinking of participating, the organisers kindly ask that they get in contact soon so that there will be no rush for visas etc.
