WSORR 2008: Off-Road Racers capture WSORR Season-Ending Awards

Keith Steele and John Mason drove their Goodyear tires hard all season during the Lucas Oil World Series of Off-Road Racing (WSORR) competition, and they were rewarded with a truck-bed full of shiny hardware at the recent "Night of Champions" Awards Banquet in Milwaukee (USA).

Mason shared the prestigious WSORR PRO Driver of the Year Award, and Steele was named as the top SRT (Sportsman) driver in 2008. Both also were WSORR season class champions, and Steele added a World Championship ring for his Super Truck title earned during the BorgWarner World Championship weekend at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Wisconsin.

Steele made the most trips to the podium (five) of any driver by also winning end-of-season awards from KC Hilites and MSD Ignitions. He won eight races and finished on the podium in 11 of the 12 rounds of racing in his Monster Energy Goodyear truck.

Mason, of Plymouth, WI, had nine podium finishes and four wins on his way to the PRO Super Buggy title in his Mendeola Goodyear Honda in 2008. Overall, Goodyear was named as the WSORR PRO Tire Manufacturer of 2008 for its dominating performance in the demanding off-road series. For Goodyear, the 2008 World Series season witnessed other class champions. Dave DeMaegd successfully defended his Formula 4x4 crown in his Goodyear Jeep, and Rob Weiland repeated as Classix champion in the Grassroots Classix division in his Goodyear Chevrolet. Kent Brascho was the PRO 4x4 Series champ in his Lucas Oil Goodyear Chevrolet and also won the prestigious 15th Annual Potawatomi Chairman's Cup race.

World Championship rings were handed out to Ross Hoek, PRO 2WD, Skyjacker Goodyear Ford; Tim Lemons, PRO Super Buggy, Goodyear Toyota; and Tim Moeller, Formula 4x4, Goodyear Ford. Matt Sale won the Enduro Grassroots World Championship in his Goodyear-equipped Ford.

Carried by Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires, these off-roaders compete in some of the toughest racing anywhere. The Wrangler MT/R tire is also available to consumers who only dream of harsh off-road racing. The consumer version of the Wrangler MT/R tire is Goodyear's superior traction tire for off-road enthusiasts, featuring exclusive Durawall Technology, which helps resist punctures and cuts. This kind of toughness is especially sought after by desert racers who tackle the toughest terrain, such as sand, mud and rocks. The Wrangler MT/R is available in a variety of sizes ranging from 15"-18" rim diameters and up to 40" in outer diameter to outfit popular off-road enthusiast vehicles.
