X-raid team mourns the death of Henri Magne

The X-raid team received the death of Henri Magne with mourning and consternation. Magne died in a tragic accident during the final stage of the Rally of Morocco on 06 June 2006.

Team manager Sven Quandt was shaken to the core by the death of the 53-year-old French: 'His death deeply touches all of us. I met Henri 15 years ago during my first off-road rallies and he became a good friend over the years. He was likable and a top professional. He was very modest and did not want to be in the spotlight. A characteristic he preserved despite his many achievements, which I still find remarkable. All of our sympathy is with his wife Lucette and his two children and we wish the whole family lots of strength for the certainly tough next weeks.'

Henri Magne was one of the most successful and most experienced co-pilots in marathon rally sport racing. In 2004 the Andorra based French also worked as a co-pilot in Luc Alphand's X-raid BMW X5. Together they achieved the fourth place, the best result for team X-raid from Trebur at a Dakar Rally so far.
